Building the Capacity of PV Educators

Source: SELF

The most effective way to ensure that the PV workforce attains the skills they need and receives the most up to date and relevant education is to develop a network of professional trainers. Remote Energy provides a pathway, methodology and support network for developing the technical capacity of PV trainers worldwide.

Remote Energy’s ASPIRE Progam works within existing institutions in developing communities. We partner with technical/ vocational schools, universities, or any organization that seeks to develop or improve the capacity of their instructors while addressing barriers to opportunity for all genders and marginalized populations.

The ASPIRE program provides the following services:

  • Gap analysis of existing curriculum, facilities, and evaluation of instructors’ technical skills/knowledge

  • Customized development plan for each instructor

  • Customized solar curriculum to meet local market requirements

  • Instructor training that focuses on best practices for instruction, evaluating student progress, classroom management, and safe practices for hands-on training

  • Co-teaching opportunities with professional RE trainers

  • Mentorship programs that include specialized equipment training opportunities, continuing education, and online support.

  • Networking opportunities

  • Access to an online forum/portal for solar educators, where instructors can ask questions, get advice, and find resources they can use
