Hands-On Solar Training Center at DAUST University Dakar, Senegal

Remote Energy partnered with ANSI (American National Standards Institute), Outback Power, USAID, and Standards Alliance to develop and construct a hands-on PV training facility at DAUST, the Dakar American University of Science and Technology in Dakar, Senegal.

As part of this project, Remote Energy designed a comprehensive PV training curriculum that can be delivered online or in person to DAUST students. Additionally, the instructors at DAUST participated in a Remote Energy instructor training and mentoring program that was designed to enhance the technical skills and confidence of DAUST’s PV instructors.

The custom training curriculum was designed to introduce students to the fundamentals of battery-based PV systems. Under Remote Energy’s leadership, a hands-on lab facility was constructed which features four different OutBack Power Systems that will be used as training labs for students to learn how to safely install, wire, and troubleshoot real-world, live solar PV systems.

Creating local solar training programs enables instructors at technical schools and universities to adapt curriculum to make it culturally relevant, customize training programs to match the national certification programs, and use equipment that is available in country.
