Before the Internet was around, if someone was interested in Renewable Energy they would get a Home Power magazine issue, or a box of issues from a neighbor, friend, or local library. We even bought a subscription for our dentist to place alongside all the boring magazines.

The founders of Remote Energy were honored to receive the prestigious Mike Sullivan Award at Solar Energy International’s Instructor training March 7th 2019.

Remote Energy co-founder Brad Burkhartzmeyer was honored with the 2019 Walt Ratterman award from the North American Board of Energy Practitioners® (NABCEP) for his work in international renewable energy education. This annual award was created to recognize and honor Walt Ratterman, one of NABCEP’s first certificants, who was tragically killed by the earthquake while working in Haiti.

Walt’s astonishing renewable energy work among some of the world’s most needy was truly inspirational. Walt channeled his efforts into the non-profit company he co-founded, Sun Energy Power International.

Co-founder of Remote Energy, Brad Burkhartzmeyer, is known as a rock star of teaching and is remembered by students and colleagues for his funny wit that keeps students laughing and completely engaged. Anyone that has tried teaching technical PV design, standards, and installation practices knows that it takes a multi-faceted teacher to be both an expert in the technical material AND to keep students awake, learning, and engaged. Brad is a master at both.
